Wacky Packs
We include Wacky Pack sticker cards here under the toy section because frankly we have no idea where else to put them (and we collected them in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s). These were trading cards (mostly stickers) that were essentially commercial product spoofs (like Stinky for Slinky, “Neverready” for Ever Ready batteries, or “Grave” for Crave cat food, or “Crust” for Crest toothpaste).
They were first produced by the Topps Company in 1967 (known for baseball cards), and one point becoming their top seller. The Topps Wacky Packs (Wacky Packages or Wacky Packies) have continued to be produced from time to time well beyond the 1980’s. For you 80’s fans, the original 1973 to 1976 series was re-released between 1979 and 1980, and a smaller, sticker version of the cards was released from 1982 to 1986. In 2008, a Flashback series was released with many of the old school stickers back on store shelves.
