KATHY BATES Kathy Bates, born June 28, 1948 in Memphis, started her acting career in the 1970's.  There is probably little doubt that Bates was much more popular in the 1990's, starring in such films as Dolores Claiborne (1985) and Titanic (1997).  Bates' 80's movie resume includes Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean (1982), Two of a Kind (1983), The Morning After (1986), Summer Heat (1987), My Best Friend Is a Vampire (1988), Arthur 2 (1988), Signs of Life (1989), and High Stakes (1989).  Bates could also be found on 80's TV, guest starring on shows like The Love Boat, St. Elsewhere, Cagney and Lacey, St. Elsewhere, China Beach, All My Children, and L.A. Law.
