TOM CRUISE Tom Cruise, born July 3, 1962 in New York, first popped up as Billy in the movie Endless Love (1980).  Many say the role that launched his career was that of Joel Goodsen in Risky Business (1983).  This role was initially offered to Timothy Hutton.  He also starred in Taps (1981), The Outsiders (1983), Losin' It (1983), All the Right Moves (1983), Legend (1985), Top Gun (1986), The Color of Money (1986), Cocktail (1988), Young Guns (1988), Rain Main (1988), and Born on the Fourth of July (1989).  As you know, Cruise continues to pack the theatre seats, and at the time of this writing, was busy making Mission Impossible III.  Quick Fact:  His given name is Thomas Cruise Mapother the fourth.  Good thing he chopped off that last part.
