River Phoenix (real
name was River Jude Bottom) was born on August 23, 1970
in Oregon. He died in 1993 of a drug induced heart
attack. Phoenix was proving to be a very promising
actor before his death, having starred in several great
80's movies and TV shows. He was a guest on shows
like Hotel, Family Ties, and starred on several 80's
mini-series ("Seven Brides for Seven Brothers,"
1982-1983; "Celebrity," 1984; "Robert Kennedy and His
Times," 1985). His 80's movie resume included
Explorers (1985), Stand By Me (1986), The Mosquito Coast
(1986), A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon
(1988), Little Nikita (1988), Running on Empty (1988),
and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989). It
is rather interesting, Phoenix's short life spawned
quite a following, and several songs have been written
about him. "Just say no, eh?" |
