Ossie Davis, born Dec.
18, 1917 in Georgia (died in 2005), started his acting
career way back in the early 50's. Word has it
that Ossie got his name when the county clerk
misunderstood his mother, who wanted to name him R. C.
Ossie was very popular, even given the opportunity to be
guest speaker at both Martin Luther King's and Malcolm
X's funerals. Ossie was not as active in the 80's
as he was in other decades, but he still starred in the
following movies: The House of God (1984), Harry
and Son (1984), Avenging Angel (1985), School Daze
(1988) and Do the Right Thing (1989). Ossie also
starred in some 80's TV. Many might remember him
from the TV series "Ossie and Ruby (1980)", or possibly
from the TV series "B. L. Stryker" in the late 80's. |
