JIM VARNEY Jim Varney, born June 15, 1949 in Kentucky (died in 2000), is probably best known for his role as Ernest P. Worrel in movies like Ernest Goes to Camp (1987).  Varney started his career back in the late 70's, and his 80's movie resume included Spittin' Image (1982), Knowwhutimean? (1983), Hey, Vern, It's My Family Album (1983), The Ernest Film Festival (1986), Dr. Otto and the Riddle of the Gloom Beam (1986), Hey, Vern, Win $10,000 (1987), Ernest Saves Christmas (1988), and Fast Food (1989).  Varney also had some Ernest related made for TV appearances, and performed in a couple of lesser known TV shows.  He made several more Ernest movies, many released directly to video.
