BILLY DEE WILLIAMS Buy New and Used Billy Dee Williams, born April 6, 1937 in New York, actually auditioned for the role of Han Solo in 1976.  Guess what, he didn't get it.  He did land the role of Lando Calrissian in the Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983), which is the role many of us remember him for.  But that is not all he did in the 80's:  Nighthawks (1981), Marvin and Tige (1983), Fear City (1984), Number One with a Bullet (1987), Deadly Illusion (1987), and Batman (1989).  He did lots of TV, including a short stint on "Dynasty" in 1984-1985.
