GREATEST HITS
Little River Band Greatest Hits   Definitive Collection The Little River Band   Greatest Hits The Little River Band

Australia's Little River Band was formed by a group of veteran musicians in the mid 1970's.  They took their name from a town named Little River on the way to a gig, but originally played under the name Drummond, where they scored a hit cover version of the song "Daddy Cool".  Based on a business decision after receiving lackluster results in the UK, the Little River Band decided to gear their music towards the yanks.

After doing well with a single in Australia called "Curiosity Killed the Cat", the band took the show on the road, making the top 40 in the USA in 1976 with the song "It's a Long Way There".  The Little River Band continued to do very well in the 1970's.  The following additional 70's songs were either Australian or US top 40 hits: "Everyday of My Life", "Help Is On Its Way", "Witchery", "Happy Anniversary", "Shut Down Turn Off", "Reminiscing", "Lady", "Lonesome Loser", and "Cool Change".

In the early 80's, Little River Band gained a new vocalist.  They continued cranking out the hits.  Their 1981 release, Time Exposure, featured the hit songs "The Night Owls", "Take It Easy on Me", and "Man on Your Mind."  In 1982, they released a greatest hits album that featured two hit songs:  "The Other Guy" and "Down on the Border".  The Net (1983) featured the hit songs "We Two" and "You're Driving Me Out of My Mind".  Other 80's albums included Playing to Win (1984), No Reins (1984), and Monsoon (1988), although none of these charted again in the USA (only in Australia).

Although the Little River Band did continue well past the 1980's, band members often shifted, and their days of thunder were over.  They were active well into the 2000's, as was another band of original members called Birtles Shorrock Goble.  The Little River Band Discography is as follows:
