NEW AND USED JOEY SCARBURY CDS

Fame for California's Joey Scarbury did not come immediately, and when it did come, it did not stick around.  At the age of 14, he received a record deal with Dunhill Records, and his first single, "She Never Smiles Anymore", was received poorly.  He was soon dropped.  In the 1970's, Scarbury worked as a backup artist, and even had a minor hit song, "Mixed Up Guy", in 1971.

Joey Scarbury's big break came in the early 1980's, when he was given the opportunity to write the theme song for the TV show Greatest American Hero.  That song, "Believe It or Not", became a huge hit, reaching no. 2 on the Billboard 100 in 1981.  The song was thus featured on the album America's Greatest Hero, which also had brisk sales.  Another song from this album, "When She Dances", was a minor hit (reaching no. 49), but this was about it for Scarbury.

As the 80's rolled on, Scarbury participated in a song for the TV show called Hardcastle and McCormick called "Back to Back", as well as a few other 80's TV programs, but the success of 1981 was never resurrected.  Scarbury did have some success in 1990 as a songwriter, co-writing the song "No Matter How High" for the Oak Ridge Boys.  The Joey Scarbury Discography is short, but we had to include it:

    BELIEVE IT OR NOT:
[chorus] Believe it or not I'm walking on air, I never thought I could feel so free, Flying away on a wing and a prayer, Who could it be?  Believe it or not it's just me  [etc]
