The UK band Breathe formed in the early 1980's and was
originally known as Catch 22. All original members of Catch 22
were childhood friends who had attended school together in Hampshire.
Breathe was a jazz band with a pop sound, and was some times compared to
Air Supply or Rick Astley. By 1984, the band had begun working on
a demo that eventually made its way to A&M Records where a contract soon
followed.
In 1988, Breathe released
All that Jazz,
which was by far the most successful release to date. You may
remember the songs "How Can I Fall" and "Hands to Heaven" from this
release. "How Can I Fall" charted at no. 3 on the Billboard Hot
100, and "Hands to Heaven" charted at no. 2. These songs also did
well overseas, especially in the United Kingdom.
In 1990, Breathe followed up their debut by releasing
Peace of Mind. Although songs from this release did receive
some airplay by local radio stations, their label did not promote the
album. It was not long after this 1990 release that Breathe
disbanded. There has been little heard from members of the band
since 1990. At the time of this writing, the Breathe Discography
was as follows:1988: All That Jazz
