Bourgeois Tagg was an 80's group named after Dallas, TX founders
(and freinds) Brent Bourgeois and
Larry Tagg. Brent started playing piano in a bar at 13. In
the late 1970's, after high school, the two set off for California,
where they played in a Sacramento band called Uncle Rainbow. In
1984, the two joined up with guitarist Lyle Workman, drummer Michael
Urbano, and keyboardist Scott Moon to form Bourgeois Tagg. Brent
also handled keyboard duties while Tagg handled the bass, and both
Bourgeois and Tagg traded off on vocal duties.
In 1986, Bourgeois Tagg released their
self-titled
album. There were two singles released on this album, but the only
one that received any air time to speak of was "Mutual Surrender (What a
Wonderful World)". It was Bourgeois Tagg's 1987 release,
Yoyo, that brought us the top 40 Billboard hit "I Don't Mind at
All". Although this song barely broke the Billboard Top 40, it was
a huge hit over seas and a top 5 hit in the Adult Contemporary chart.
MTV helped to fuel the success of the song by airing it's music video
often.
By 1989, tensions between Bourgeois and the rest of the
band hand reached a head, and Bourgeois Tagg split up. Some
sources cite Brent's wild lifestyle and subsequent turn to Christianity
as reasons for the breakup. Members of the band went on to other
projects, including Brent Bourgeois who released a self-titled solo
album in 1990 and eventually became a well known Christian artist.
At the time of this writing, fans could meet Brent during the 11:00 AM
services at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Sacramento. The

I DON'T
MIND AT ALL:
[starts] The time for talking is over
now,
I guess it's time to let you go, But I don't,
no, I don't mind at all
[chorus] It's important to me,
that I don't see you laughing at me,
But I'm smart enough to know, that I have to let
you go,
But I don't mind at all [etc] |
