Benny Mardones, who actually looked like he should have been singing hair metal, debuted in 1978.  Mardones released 3 80's albums:  Never Run, Never Hide (1980), Too Much to Lose (1981), and Benny Mardones (1989).  Many of you remember the song "Into the Night," a song from his 1980 & 1989 albums.  Mardones continues to produce (2002 - A Journey Through Time).

Never Run, Never Hide

INTO THE NIGHT:
[starts] She's just sixteen years old, Leave her alone, they say, Separated by fools, Who don't know what love is yet. . .
[chorus] If I could fly, I'd pick you up, I'd take you into the night, And show you a love, Like you've never seen - ever seen [etc]
