Wildside was one of those Los Angeles, California late comers (1990's) that tried to
hang on to the hair metal genre in a changing musical world.
Initially the band was known as "Young Gunns" (circa 1988), but by the
time they landed a record deal with Capitol Records in 1990, the name
had been changed.
Wildside's first release,
Under the Influence,
hit the scene in 1992 and featured the songs "Hang on Lucy" and "Just
Another Night" and another song co-written by Paul Stanley.
Wi1dside did not follow up with a new release until their 1995
self-titled release,
which was actually an attempt at grunge rock as opposed to hair metal.
Needless to say, this album did not do too well and fans of their 1992
sound were none too pleased with the new sound. However, as a
business decision, considering the climate of the music industry in 1995
and the significant decline of heavy metal, the move made sense at the
time.
In
2001,
Wasted Years was released, which is a collection of
previously un-released demos and b-sides. In 2012, Wildside
re-released a re-mastered version of their original release from 1992 (Under
the Influence). Follow the band picture
