Shotgun Messiah was a Swedish glam band that started off
as a band called "Kingpin" back in the mid 1980's. In fact, they
release a single album as Kingpin called Welcome to Bop City,
which after they moved to Hollywood and changed their name to Shotgun
Messiah, became their
1989 debut
release.
By 1991, vocalist Zinny Zan had left the band, and
bassist Tim Skold handled vocals for the bands 1991 release,
Second
Coming (1991). This album did not do as well as
their debut, but has been argued by many as being more glam and a better
album than their original (after all, it did feature the hit song
"Heartbreak Boulevard"). The band had two more releases in 1992
and 1993. Violent New Breed was an album that saw the band go into a more
industrial rock direction, whereas I Want More was a collection
of cover tunes by bands such as The Ramones, The Stooges, and the New
York Dolls.
As time has gone on and the members of Shotgun Messiah
have went their own ways, it is notable that Tim Skold could be found
with Marilyn Manson for a time, and Zinny Zan in a band called "Zan
Clan". At the time of this writing, the Shotgun Messiah
Discography was as follows:1989: Shotgun Messiah
1991: Second Coming
1992: I Want More
1993: Violent New Breed |
