There were a lot of testosterone
laden guitar players of the 80's who wanted nothing more than to play
their guitar faster than a hummingbird with a nectarized I.V.
David T. Chastain was one of those guys. Chastain was formed in
1984 (Cincinnati) by the president of Shrapnel Records, who was looking
for a talented musical outlet for a little known vocalist named Leather
Leone (and no, Leather was not her given name).
In Chastain's own words, the band
members only got together once per year to record new music, and then
went about the business of their solo careers the rest of the time.
Things started getting better for the band, however, as some of their
late 80's releases starting earning more recognition, and the band began
touring the world until the early 1990's. Chastain, with various
different members, continued to produce new music for several years
after the heyday of hair metal.
If you like virtuosos
such as Vinnie Moore, Jason Becker, Yngwie Malmsteen, and Impellitteri,
then you just might get a kick out of Chastain. At the time of
this writing, the Chastain Discography was as follows:1985: Mystery of Illusion
