Yea, yea, we know, the Canadian band Alias came onto
the scene in 1990 or so, but cut us some lack over here, eh?
This section of
www.ilovethe80s.com is also intended as a tribute to hair
metal in general, and Alias is worth mentioning.
Alias was essentially a conglomeration of veteran rockers
from bands such as Sheriff and Heart. Many of you will remember their
tear jerking monster ballad "More Than
Words Can Say." I need you now, wo-o-o-o, more than words
can say . . . oops, sorry. Just remembering that one.
Give me a second to blow my nose.
That great aforementioned song was released
on their 1990 self-titled release, as were the other hit songs "Waiting
for Love" and "Haunted Heart". These hits propelled the band into
the limelight, with appearances on The Tonight Show and a tour with REO
Speedwagon.
In 1992, Alias had recorded a second album, Never Say
Never, that they decided not to release due to the evolving nature of
the hair metal stifling grunge movement (can you say Teen Spirit?).
The good news, however, is that the band did release this album in 2009.
So, that cranks the Alias Discography up one notch:1990: Alias
1992 (2009): Never Say Never
