Buy New and Used Yentl, starring Barbara Streisand as Yentl, was released in 1983.  In this movie, a European, Jewish woman disguises herself as a man (circa 1900)in order to attend a Jewish religious school for would-be rabbis.  Everything is going well, with the singing and everything, until she falls in love with a class mate.  As far as we can tell, the USA-format DVD is only available on eBay (bootleg?).
