Buy New and Used   Tender Mercies, starring Robert Duvall and Tess Harper, was released in 1983.  This movie is about Mac Sledge (Duvall), a washed up, alcoholic country singer who has hit rock bottom.  Luckily he has help, as his new wife, and her son, help Mac battle his way back to sobriety and revive his career.  Some Oscar performances came out of this movie.
