Buy New and Used   Starring John Malkovich, Danny Glover, Sally Field, and Ed Harris, Places in the Heart was released in 1984.  In this movie, Edna Spaulding (Field) tragically loses her husband, and based on the need to provide for her two kids, she decides to plant cotton.  She hires Glover to help her and has a blind tenant (played by Malkovich) living there as well.  This little group forms an unlikely family.  Very touching.
