Buy New and Used   Starring Christian Bale, Joe Pantoliano and John Malkovich, Empire of the Sun was released in 1987.  This Spielberg movie is basically a movie about over coming human adversity.  In this movie, Bale plays the role of Jim, a 12 year old rich British kid, whose life takes a turn for the worse when he ends up a war prisoner during WWII.  Believe it or not, even Ben Stiller played a part in this flick.
