In September 1985, John Mellencamp and Willie Nelson put on the
Farm Aid concert in Illinois to raise money for American
farmers. There were two more concerts, Farm Aid II in
Texas (1986) and Farm Aid III in Nebraska (1987). 112
bands performed, including Van Halen, Hall & Oats, Bon Jovi,
Billy Joel, and more. And who can forget about the pop version of Farm Aid:
