Contra was one of those typical scrolling kill 'em all
80's arcade games where you went about the business of blowing
up the enemy.
At the end of each level there was a really bad boss dude to
eliminate as well as challenge stages. If memory serves, two
people could play this 80s arcade game at the same time. This was a
popular 80s arcade game for the home console (Nintendo, Sega, etc.).
